2 Installation

Installing the software is a simple procedure. A windows installer is provided. Once ran the installer will copy all files to an appropriate location and register the conduit with Palm's HotSync.

You should then run the desktop application once and set the general options for the conduit. Its advisable to, at least, change the directory defined to write new bases found in your PDA. The default directory is the one HotSync assigns to the conduit and might be inconvenient to find.

The first time you HotSync a phony application will be uploaded to your PDA. The only purpose of this application is to allow the conduit to work, HotSync will not run conduit that do not have associated applications. If you run the application it will just exit immediately. Do not delete this application, if you do so the conduit will stop working. If you accidentally delete it reinstall it by running the Palm_Sync.prc icon and the conduit will work again.

Its recommended that you keep your sync setting, for most bases, to default conduit behavior. In this way you can override the behavior of the conduit by changing its settings from HotSync's options.

At any time you can uninstall the conduit using windows uninstall options or by running the uninstall icon. This will unregister the conduit and will delete all files installed, except for configuration files and local texts. You must also delete the phony application from your PDA.

WARNING! The uninstaller will completely wipe its base directory. The default configuration will not save configuration files, or local texts, there. So you can safely ignore this warning if you did not change any installation parameters, or placed your download directory inside the base installation directory.
